The route most people from Jordan take, the mistake to avoid, and the facts that change because you are applying from Jordan, each read from the official page it links.
Most Jordanian citizens who become permanent residents come through family or protection: in the admissions data of IRCC, Canada's immigration department, family sponsorship, mostly of spouses, and refugee protection granted after a claim in Canada together make up more than half each recent year. In a spouse sponsorship, a partner who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident signs a commitment to support you. Among work routes, the same data put nomination by a province first: under the Provincial Nominee Program, a province picks people whose skills its economy needs. Express Entry, the online system that invites top-scoring skilled workers to apply, is another option. Global Affairs Canada notes a Jordanian-Canadian community centred in Toronto and Jordanian students in Canada.
IRCC requires both of Jordan's police certificates: a Good Conduct certificate from the General Intelligence Department and a Non-conviction certificate from a Court of First Instance; from abroad, apply for both through a Jordanian embassy. For a spouse sponsorship, IRCC's application package for Jordan also asks Jordanian passport holders and the family members on their application for a recently issued civil status certificate and copies of each passport's first pages. For Express Entry points, a degree needs a credential assessment, a report on what it equals in Canada: WES, an assessor IRCC designates, asks University of Jordan graduates to have the university send their transcript electronically.
The mistake to avoid is starting a spouse sponsorship while the Canadian partner lives in Jordan with no plan to return. Global Affairs Canada notes Canadians living and working in Jordan, but under IRCC's rules a Canadian citizen living abroad can sponsor only by showing they will live in Canada once their partner becomes a permanent resident, and a permanent resident living outside Canada cannot sponsor at all. A permanent resident partner has to move back to Canada first; a citizen partner should gather proof of the planned move before applying.
Express Entry asks a single applicant to show CAD 15,263 in settlement funds, about JOD 7,609 at the latest cached exchange rate; larger families need more.
A qualification from Jordan is assessed for Canada by one of these organisations: World Education Services (WES), International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS), International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES) and Comparative Education Service (CES).
Jordan has two police certificates: a Good Conduct certificate from the General Intelligence Department and a Non-conviction certificate from the Courts of First Instance (both have offices in cities across Jordan). From abroad, apply for both through any Jordanian embassy.
Canada has no youth mobility agreement with Jordan today, so citizens of Jordan can join International Experience Canada only through a recognized organization that accepts them.
Tests Canada accepts with centres in Jordan include IELTS General Training, PTE Core and TCF Canada.
In the 2021 census, 66% of immigrants born in Jordan lived in Ontario, more than in any other province or territory.
Ontario is also where they are most concentrated compared with other immigrants.
