Canada does not read your IELTS band or your TEF score as it is. Every accepted test is converted onto one scale, the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) for English and the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) for French, and immigration programs state their minimums and award their points on that scale. Enter your score for each ability and this tool shows the level it meets, from the same conversion charts our full report reads.

Immigration programs name their language requirements as benchmark levels rather than as test scores. Each Express Entry program sets a minimum level for the abilities it checks, and the points you earn in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), the score that ranks Express Entry candidates, rise with each level above it. Your lowest ability usually matters most, because a minimum applies to every ability at once. The charts behind this tool are the ones Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) publishes, and they are the same tables our full report reads, so a level here is the level your report would use.
Your language level is one input among many. The full report checks 109 Canadian pathways against everything you tell us, from Express Entry to every Provincial Nominee Program, family sponsorship and work permits, and tells you what to do next. Your eligibility summary is free, and so is the full report right now.
