Pick your job to see who licenses or registers it in New Zealand, which immigration routes fit it, and your first steps.
In New Zealand, moving for your job usually starts with the job itself. Immigration New Zealand (INZ), the government's immigration agency, says that for some jobs you have to be registered with a specific organisation to work, and that you must get that registration before you apply for a visa to work in one of those roles.
The main work visa, the Accredited Employer Work Visa, then needs a job offer from an employer INZ has accredited, which means approved to hire people from overseas. The Green List names roles New Zealand needs workers for, and if your role is listed and you meet its requirements, you may be able to apply for residence straight away or after 2 years of working in New Zealand.
Each page below takes one occupation and sets out what that means for it: its occupation codes and the training they usually need, its place on the Green List, who registers it, and the first steps for people trained overseas.
